General Class Descriptions


 

Bread 101

Afraid of yeast? Don’t be! Learn how to make yeast your best friend as you learn what it likes to create great outcomes for your home creations. Know that smell when you walked past a bakery? Or the aroma you met in grandma’s kitchen? You can have that too! Bread classes range from sandwich and sweet loaves to Italian and stuffed breads! Bread type changes weekly.

Croissants

This sensual pastry houses hundreds of layers encapsulated by a crisp, flaky and feather-like crust that will satisfy the senses with its rich, toasty and sweet aroma. Impress yourself and others by acquiring the skill to recreate this beautiful artwork of this European staple that is coveted world-wide. We will be pairing this viennoiserie pastry with the perfect wine and chocolate compliments to satisfy the senses.

Pies

This class shows you how to perfect your pie crust while utilizing it in unique ways. The level of tenderness with exceptional buttery and flaky elements take your “pie expectations” up a notch. Enjoy fillings from sweet fruit to savory vegetables, all bursting with flavor and a guaranteed ask for more. Fillings change weekly. 

Kid Classes

Introducing children to the magic of fondant and buttercream for their uses in cake decorating. Featuring the expert decorative and piping skills of Pastry Chef Shauna O’Reilly from So Good Baked Goods, your little one will be able to create and decorate their own double-layer cake or six cupcakes using fondant and buttercream! Themes will vary depending on the season. Your special baker will definitely not want to miss out on these unique experiences!

Puff Pastry

Puff Pastry, also called pâte feuilletée, is known for its tender, buttery and flaky dough comprised of hundreds of layers! In this class you will learn the technique behind laminating dough (putting butter inside of the dough) that creates that magical “puff” in the oven and the buttery tenderness of a classic French pastry dough we’ve grown to love.

Biscuits & Scones

Believe it or not there is a difference between these two! Although, they are very similar. This class will teach you the subtle differences between the tender, flaky and buttery nature of the well known Southern biscuit and its Scottish/British counterpart, the scone, known for its rich yet delicate sweet (or savory) flavors!

Kids Class Mini Pies

Have your little one be the center of attention when it comes to dessert. This will be an introduction to learning how to make pie crust and well as designing their own mini pies with assorted fruit fillings. Enjoy for the holidays or anytime because your little one is just that awesome!

Best Beer Pairings

Pairing food and beer is one of life's great pleasures. There's no way to do it wrong, but it's better to do it right. In this class, you'll learn what makes beer and food harmonize with glorious results. Enjoy a fun, unique experience with guest beer expert Will Siss as he walks you through an interactive exploration of beer and how it interacts with a variety of light courses. Mix, match, compare and contrast at The Craft as you learn about the intricacies and simply joys of beer pairing. Enjoy mouth-watering bread, meat, cheese, and a dessert while pairing each food with a specially selected beer. Christmas Cookies

It's a holiday tradition to enjoy the vast array of well decorated cookies that steal the spotlight on the dessert table. Come partake in the fun and easy Christmas cookie-making tradition well known to western culture from butter cookies to ginger-bread and even beyond!

Christmas Stollen

This Christmas sweet bread is a delicacy from Germany known for its dried/candied fruit, nuts, holiday spices and a ribbon of marzipan in the center! If you love tender fruit breads then this Christmas treat will definitely earn you brownie points at the dessert table, topped with the perfect dusting of powdered sugar! 

English Muffins

There is nothing better than a fresh, home-made, warm English muffin complemented with the perfect schmear of jam or butter. This popular breakfast must have, comes fitted with all the nooks and crannies that gives the English muffin its well known character!  

Bagels

Originating in the Jewish community in Poland, this type of “bread” is known for its substantial “chew” and wholesome sandwich creations. Classically intended to be paired with savory toppings, gourmet fillings and rich spreads, learn how to create “real” Jewish bagels and enjoy this internationally inspired bread creation.
